A valentine for the holidays, Lanford Wilson's charming romance is the story of “apple-and-orange” couple Sally Talley, the spinster daughter of a prosperous family in rural Missouri and Matt Friedman, an immigrant Jewish accountant from St. Louis. Set in an old Victorian boathouse in rural Missouri in 1944, this Pulitzer Prize winner deals with definably American themes and warms the cockles of the heart.
